It all began with an idea….
My story
Meet Joanne Begley, the passionate visionary behind "For After I've Gone," a groundbreaking series of self-help end-of-life legacy journals designed to empower individuals in leaving lasting messages for their loved ones. Joanne's journey, shaped by her personal battle with incurable Chiari Malformation and three brain surgeries, ignited a deep reflection on mortality.
With a background in Social Care and extensive research on End of Life for people with disabilities, Joanne's expertise is rooted in her educational accomplishments. Holding a notable research thesis on the subject, she has further honed her skills with an End-of-Life Therapy Diploma and is currently studying to become a Death Doula.
The inspiration behind "For After I've Gone" comes from Joanne's personal experiences in supporting a friend with MND who wished to leave something meaningful for her children. Unable to find anything on the market that fit her friend's unique needs, Joanne took it upon herself to create a solution. This journey fueled her vision to provide a universal platform for everyone who desires to leave behind a legacy.
"For After I've Gone" goes beyond being just a book; it's a catalyst for change, challenging traditional milestones and emphasizing the need to prepare for death. Joanne's vision extends to establishing global connections with hospices and end-of-life care centers, transforming how we navigate grief and approach death.
This unique journal addresses coping, reflections, legacy, bereavement, and healing in the face of an incurable diagnosis. It serves as a farewell words repository, offering spirituality and a space to express coping with impending death. Joanne's personal experiences with terminal illness drive her mission to provide a therapeutic outlet through expressive writing for healing.
Recognizing the scarcity of resources for coping with death entries and bereavement, Joanne's project seeks to bridge the gap between the dying and grievers, offering solace, support, and opportunities for personal growth. "For After I've Gone" is not just a grief and loss diary but a legacy writing prompts source, fostering reflections on mortality.
This journal is open for everyone who wants to leave their memories behind, not just limited to palliative care patients or those with a terminal diagnosis. It is about embracing the end of life, capturing last days reflections, and transitions. It serves as a memory preservation journal, a farewell memory book, and an end-of-life legacy keepsake. It is a memoir of a lifetime, providing eternal legacy through expressive writing.
Joanne invites you to embrace the extraordinary power of open conversations about death and dying. With "For After I've Gone," she provides a space to cultivate love, healing, and the opportunity to ensure that no words are left unsaid. I
